Listen Up

Weekly reflection time, woohoo! I know you’re all incredibly eager to hear about my week. This week was a breath of fresh air to me. I didn’t have time to work on anything over the course of the week because #theatrestudentlife but when I worked on it all day yesterday and today, I actually wasn’t too overwhelmed!

The first thing I worked on was creating my character and I loved it. It was nice to completely flesh out a character that is entirely my own, and I can’t wait to watch her grow throughout our collective narrative. If you’re interested in hearing my character’s background, I encourage you to read my blog post linked HERE.

Next, I listened and reflected on the videos and I found them incredibly interesting. As I mentioned in my reflection, storytelling is something I have been thinking a lot about recently and this went along perfectly with my thoughts and forced me to dig even deeper into my pre-existing thoughts about how to effectively tell stories. It also made me think about a theatre company I’ve fallen in love with lately and made me think about what I want to contribute to the world as a storyteller through theatre.

Learning Audacity wasn’t too difficult, even for a tech-noob like me, so yay for that! I also really enjoyed playing around with audacity, and while I didn’t get too crazy with it this time, I feel I’ll be more confident to try new things when we resist Audio the week after next.

Drafting.. Wow. Who knew how powerful saving drafts were? I was working in a public space and couldn’t record until I got home, and instead of just sitting there with nothing to write about and waste time, I wrote out what I was going to say in the recording and wrote the reflections of the recordings for the audio assignments and drafted them to include the audio later. It has now saved me so much time and all I had to do was insert the audio and hit post.

QOTW:

How am I feeling? Hmm. Good. Really good actually. I’m going to see a play tonight and I’m very excited about it. It’s called the Trojan Women’s Project and it’s at Brave Spirits Theatre in Alexandria. My workload is much less severe this week than it has been the last few which is exciting and much needed. I’m feeling a little less overwhelmed by balancing this class because I think my schedule will be a little bit more flexible in the weeks to come. So, thank you for asking how I’m feeling. I can’t wait to read everyone else’s reflections and see how they’re feeling.
